Job Description A position within the People’s department exists to maintain and enhance the human resources practices within Nando’s by planning, implementing and evaluating related policies, processes, systems and procedures.
Minimum Requirements – Degree or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification (HR related field)


– 5-7 years experience in an HR generalist role
– 3-4 years experience at HR management level

– Knowledge of Labour Legislation and Best Practice (Advanced)
– Knowledge of relevant HR methodologies and approaches (Advanced)
– Knowledge of Restaurant Industry (Intermediate)
– Microsoft Office skills (Intermediate)
– Interviewing and selection skills (Advanced)
– Coaching and mentoring skills (Intermediate)
– Negotiation skills (Advanced)

Duties & Responsibilities HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
– Contributes to the development of a Nando’s Human Resources (HR) strategy that supports the objectives of the organisation
– Implements the Nando’s HR strategy and business plan, including the management and execution of special projects
– Establishes effective relationships with leadership, management and all relevant stakeholders to gain the buy-in and support necessary to ensure the successful implementation of Nando’s HR initiatives
– Provides professional HR and best practice advice and guidance to management and all relevant stakeholders, including conducting training workshops to transfer critical knowledge and skill
– Develops and implements a sustainable performance management system and framework that is in line with the broader Nando’s approach
– Oversees the evaluation, classification and rating of Nando’s occupations and job positions as well as the maintenance and updating of job specifications as required
– Collaborates with the Nando’s Human Resources Director to ensure sustainable staffing and the development and implementation of effective recruitment, assessment, promotion, retention, engagement, wellness and talent management strategies
– Develops and plans new employee induction and onboarding programmes
– Ensures the overall safety, welfare and wellness of employees through appropriate services and interventions
– Collaborates with the Manager of Learning and Development to ensure the effective development of staff including addressing the needs and recommendations emphasised in the performance appraisal process
– Ensures fair and equitable Employee Relations (ER) practices and the effective management of complex disciplinary and grievance and issues
– Leads the disciplinary, grievance and related ER processes for central support, specialist and management roles (excluding casa management roles)
– Ensures effective HR administration in conjunction with the Nando’s Payroll Manager for all Nando’s employees
– Researches, develops and implements appropriate reward and recognition strategies including compensation and benefits and the administration thereof
– Manages and monitors the Nando’s HR budget
– Develops appropriate metrics and tracking mechanisms to build accountability, measure results and optimise the impact of the Nando’s HR function
– Proactively identifies and addresses emerging risks, issues and trends, implementing innovative approaches to enhance organisational effectiveness

– Takes responsibility for compliance with relevant legislation and company requirements
– Implements HR policies and procedures and ensures that these are updated regularly to reflect best practice
– Ensures that HR requirements, policies and procedures are effectively communicated across the organisation
– Advises Nando’s management on legislative and compliance matters
– Ensures adherence to the approved HR policies, processes and procedures
– Addresses non-compliance to HR policies, processes and procedures
– Communicates and monitors the employment equity plan to ensure that targets are achieved
– Contracts with and manages relevant external suppliers and service providers including consulting firms, Employee Relations providers, employment agencies, recruiters, and temporary staffing agencies
– Evaluates consulting interventions by identifying the impact on organisational effectiveness and performance

– Ensures accurate and comprehensive Employee Relations reporting for Nando’s
– Compiles all relevant monthly, quarterly and annual HR reports for management information purposes and as required by legislation
– Oversees the maintenance of Nando’s employee records and the HR information system
– Evaluates HR reports and statistical analyses to ensure quality, accuracy and relevance

– Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of Nando’s HR efforts and develops recommendations for improvement
– Reviews business requirements and related topics to stay current on campaigns, competitors and industry related information
– Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars and educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies

– Plans, directs and supervises the activity of staff to enable them to deliver a comprehensive HR service to Nando’s
– Supports their team in the development of high quality and innovative HR solutions
– Provides coaching, mentorship and best practice guidance to staff
– Manages and coordinates the goals, performance and personal development of staff
– Ensures that the skill and expertise of staff remains relevant and up-to-date
